What’s in a URL?

Google search engine positioning can be difficult to figure out. Anybody who  tries to improve Google page ranking will tell you it is a grey area. One thing is for sure, if you provide valid content in your your website and blogs, people who are interested in your products or services have a better chance of finding you. If you have the luxury to name your company or company URL with your specific search terms in mind, you’ll find that you may have a leg up on your competition.Look at this example. Google “Pro Jerseys”.

There are over a million search results.

The top 4 listings are:

www.projerseys.com

www.projerseysports.com

www.procyclingjerseys.com

www.jerseypro.com

These companies knew what they were doing when they named their companies or purchased their URLs. Sometimes some interesting results can follow.

bigblackpencil.com’s core business model is small business marketing agency Chicago.

Google “Small business marketing agency Chicago”We rank #3

That’s not bad, considering that the URL doesn’t contain any of those words.

Now Google “Black business marketing Chicago” We rank #1

Not our business model, but a business we are we are equipped to handle.

How did we get there?

Our URL didn’t hurt.

Forgive ME, but more about the subject, please!! You are going away from the topic too frequently, therefore it is uneasy to read your posts.
